You may need to use another com port than Com1 {Com2, Com3, Com4, etc.}
WinPack supports Com1 thru Com8.

I created two new directories in my installed WinPack.
c:\WINPACK\SCRIPTS\THD7
c:\WINPACK\SCRIPTS\examples

I moved the following files from \WINPACK\SCRIPTS to 
\WINPACK\SCRIPS\examples\:
  DXCLUST.TXT
  PK965CR.TXT
  SENDFILE.TXT
 
I placed copies of the THD7 STATUP.txt and EXIT.txt files
in the \WINPACK\SCRIPTS\thd7 and in the \WINPACK\SCRIPTS directories.
That way I will always have a backup copy available in the \thd7
of its related STARTUP and EXIT files.

I plan to write some batch files to manage multiple STATUP and EXIT
 file sets.

Remember we are now on Mountain Standard Time.
You should check the [TERMINAL] section of the file:
\WINPACK\PACKET.INI
If your computer uses local time the TIME_ZONE value needs to read:
TIME_ZONE=UTC-7

When we are on Mountain Savings Time the entry should read:
TIME_ZONE=UTC-6
